Antique Jambati Singing Bowl.  Notes: G3 & D5 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)

Weight 1.88 kilos (4 lb 2 ¼ oz).  Size 29.5 x 12 (11 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches)

This fabulous and large 11 ¾” Antique Jambati Singing Bowl dates from around 1800 and has a truly exceptionally beautiful third octave G fundamental (194Hz) struck note that is quite close to concert pitch.  It ranks among the very best in my collection.  The rim note is the same G3 with a suede ringer, but changes to a fifth octave D5 (535Hz) with a wooden one.

It has a graceful low and lovely profile, and features a rare folded ‘piecrust’ rim with a fabulously wide and boldly grooved triangulated lip surrounded by equally bold decorative bands encircling the rim.  The centre of the bowl is slightly mounded and this contributes to its unique sound.  This is physically a very distinctive bowl that would stand out in any collection...but it is the sound that really marks it out as special.

This ancient and rare bowl has been well used and is quite worn in places, with the decorative circles at its centre now barely visible.  However, it has bags of character and is in good structural condition for its age.  It has a beautiful golden bronze colour.

A rare treasure!

A large Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, padded striker, and 2 ringers are included in the price.
