Jambati Singing and Healing Bowls

Jambati Singing Bowls are the largest and heaviest of the antique singing bowl family, and arguably the most beautiful.  They date from the 15th or 16th century and were made mainly for ceremonial use. Their diameters range from 8 to 15 inches (20 to 38cm) and their notes cover the entire chromatic scale from the 2nd to 4th octave when struck, sometimes higher when played around the rim.  These glorious singing bowls are characterized by full-bodied and gracefully curved walls, a smallish flat or rounded bottom, and typically a generous triangulated inward-facing lip that may be plain or grooved.  Decoration is minimal, confined to a few simple incised bands encircling the outer rim to form a collar, and some  concentric circles radiating from the centre of the basin.  They have wonderful resonant voices and long sustains, and are very popular with collectors, healers, and sound therapists.
