A Vintage Balinese Watercolor Painting by the Artist I Made Nyana – Signed (2)

This is a fabulous watercolor painting by the renowned Balinese artist I Made Nyana, a post war and contemporary artist from Batuan whose works have been offered at auction multiple times, with early examples fetching higher prices.  I purchased this painting in Bali for my own collection sometime in the 1990s.

The painting depicts the famous Hindu Monkey God Hanuman in a show of strength doing battle with a huge 2-headed serpent.   He raises a heavy boulder to cast at one of the heads, while his foot holds down the other. 

The painting measures 10 x 6 ¾ inches (25.5 x 16.5 cm).  It is in excellent condition save for some barely noticeable faint foxing in the sky, and is signed by the artist.
