This large Ritual Phurba was found in West Nepal but may in fact have come from Bhutan.  It is the finest example of its kind I have come across in over 30 years of collecting.

Beautifully made from brass and iron, the level of detail and craftsmanship is such that it is just possible the blade is made from rare meteorite or ‘sky iron’.  Sadly, I cannot verify this, or its age.   Nonetheless this is a fabulous and rare ritual tool of the finest quality.

It features three wrathful heads of a deity at the apex, and a vajra handle set between two endless knots.  The three-sided iron blade is held in the mouth of the mythical Makara dragon.

Superb museum quality condition!

PS. My daughter, an ordained Buddhist, says this phurba is very similar to those used at her retreats, only better.
