The Balinese masks here were collected and commissioned between the mid 1980s and the 2,000 Millennium, during 40 or so trips to the island of Bali for business and pleasure, and to study its art and culture. Maureen and I would seek out the finest mask carvers and commission them to make sacred, ceremonial, and dance/drama masks for us. We were privileged to count many of the finest carvers as personal friends, including the world renowned masker Wayan Tangguh of Singapadu.
Sadly I am no-longer able to display the collection, once among the best in the world, and it is now being dispersed. The larger masks, the Barong and Rangda, have recently been sold to international collectors, but many fine collectable dance masks are listed here, including some by Wayan Tangguh.
