Topeng Raja Putri

A vintage mask, circa 1990, by the renowned Balinese mask carver Wayan Tangguh of Singapadu (20 x 18 cm).  Carved in Pule Wood and painted with natural pigments mixed with ground bone, it features metal-fronted earrings and a metal and glass or gemstone third eye.  The teeth are Mother-of-Pearl shell, and all the gold ornamentation is real gold leaf.

This beautiful and exquisitely carved Raja Putri mask was personally commissioned and purchased directly from the carver at his home, where he signed his name on the back.     A fabulous and rare mask in excellent condition, and very collectable.
