Topeng Putri (2)

A vintage mask, circa 1980, by the renowned Balinese mask carver Anak Agung Gede Dharma Agung (22 x 18 cm).  Carved in Pule Wood and painted with natural pigments mixed with ground bone, it features metal and glass bead ornamentation to the hairpiece.   

This beautiful Putri mask was personally purchased directly from the carver at his home at the Puri Agung Palace in Bangli, where he printed his name and address on the back.   He was already retired when we tracked him down in 1994, and was happy to sell four old masks from his own private collection, two of them of Putri.  Excellent condition, rare, and very collectable.
