Topeng Cili

A rare vintage mask, circa 1995, by the renowned Balinese mask carver Wayan Tangguh of Singapadu (20 x 22 cm).  Carved in Pule Wood and painted with natural pigments mixed with ground bone, it features separately carved attached ears with real gold leaf, and Mother-of-Pearl teeth.

Topeng Cili is a representation of King Widiadara used in the Balinese temple offering known as Gebogan.  This rare, beautiful, and exquisitely carved mask was personally commissioned and purchased directly from the carver at his home, where he signed his name on the back.     It is in very good condition, and very collectable.
