A Rare Set of 3 Antique Manipuri Lotus Singing Bowls – A3, D4 & C5

This is an assembled set of 3 small antique Manipuri Singing Bowls with the interesting and rare lotus petal form. The D4 and C5 bowls were sourced together and although different in size they share the same physical characteristics. It therefore seems likely that they originated from the same forge. The A3 was added later. These lotus bowls are extremely rare and as it was a different note and similar in size it seemed sensible to group them together.

The two bowls that came together appear to be structurally identical and have the same shape and decorative features including suns around the lip, circles at the centre, and below the inner and outer rim. The A3 lacks the suns. All the bowls are structurally sound, responsive, and easy to play.

Bowl 1: D4 (299Hz) struck and G#6 (851Hz) rim. 435 grams. 15 x 5 cm (6 x 2 inches)

Bowl 2: C5 (512-8Hz) struck and F#6 (1450Hz) rim. 230 grams. 11.5 x 4 cm (4 ½ x 1 ½ inches)

Bowl 3: A3 (215Hz) struck and D5 (602Hz) rim. 311 grams. 15 x 5 cm (6 x 2 inches)

A round Tibetan silk brocade bowl bag and 3 small ringers are included in the price.
