Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. C#3 Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 5 lb 5 ½ oz (2.43 Kilos). 31.5 x 14.5 cm (approx. 12 ¼ x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a superb large antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a fabulous, powerful and pulsating third octave C# fundamental with a long sustain. The note is the same whether struck with a padded drumstick/striker or played around the rim with a suede ringer. This bowl will also produce nice fountains if played with a little water inside.
This bowl benefits from a large and well-defined incised inscription just below the outer rim.
At close to 2 ½ kilos this is a heavy bowl. It has an attractive full-bodied shape and is well forged with even walls and a wide triangulated inward facing lip. There is a pair of concentric circles at its centre and there are several incised lines forming a collar below the outer rim. It is in excellent structural condition and has a nice golden bronze colour.
A fabulous old bowl with a lovely voice!
A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
