Weight 1.27 kilos (2 lb 12 ¾ oz). Size 23.5 x 10 cm (9 ¼ x 4 inches)
This is a premium quality medium-size antique Jambati Singing Bowl with 2 excellent inscriptions; a fair indication of the high esteem in which this bowl was held by one or more of its previous keepers.
This well-proportioned bowl has finely forged walls and circles at its center, but is otherwise undecorated. Its fundamental note is a low second octave A (107/8Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a middle Eb (315Hz) if a wooden ringer is employed.
It is in exceptionally fine condition and will appeal to those wanting a relatively light bowl capable of producing a low note.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede ringer then wood)
