Antique C4 Remuna Singing Bowl – Fountain/Talking & Inscription
SOLD
Antique Remuna Singing Bowl. C4 Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 8 ½ oz. (691g). 18 x 9 cm (approx. 7 x 3 ½ inches)
This is an unusually fine example of an antique Remuna singing bowl with unique sonic attributes…the ability to fountain and talk, sometimes simultaneously, when played around the rim with a little water inside! It also has an excellent mid octave C voice when struck or played around the rim in the normal way.
This old bowl is larger, thicker and heavier than normal for a Remuna, and more elaborately decorated. It has an excellent deeply grooved lip, decorative concentric circles at its center, an incised band below the rim (both inside and out) and also about two thirds of the way down its outer wall at the widest point of its belly. Unusually there are concentric circles underneath on its flat bottom, matching those on the inside floor of the bowl. It also benefits from an inscription just below the rim.
Remuna bowls are noted for their ease of play and the purity of their voices. A few have other surprising capabilities, and this is one such example. Remuna bowls are highly sought-after and they have become extremely scarce and expensive in recent years.
The condition of this rare bowl is excellent…clean and virtually blemish free, and I have no hesitation in recommending it as one of the best of its kind.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
