Antique Himalayan Naga Singing Bowl with Inscription
SOLD
Antique Naga Singing and Healing Bowl. B & E Notes (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1 lb 14 ¾ oz (869g). 17 x 12 ½ cm (approx.6 ½ x 5 inches)
This is a large antique pedestal or Naga singing bowl with an excellent fundamental low third octave B flat note when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and a high fifth octave E flat when played with a wooden one. This bowl is extremely responsive and very easy to play, and the suede rim note is particularly nice and satisfying.
This is a well-made Naga bowl with a strong pedestal, fine even walls and a nice lip. The outer wall is finely decorated with four pairs of engraved lines forming a collar just below the rim. It benefits from a small inscription sandwiched between a pair of finely drawn (dot punched) peacocks. A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
