Antique Jambati Singing Bowl – Fantastic Voice & Great Fountains
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Singing and Fountain Bowl. E & B Notes (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)
Weight 3 lb 14 ¾ oz (1.78 kilos). 27 ¼ x 13 ¼ cm (approx. 11 x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a stunningly beautiful top quality antique Tibetan singing bowl with a fantastic voice…a wonderful third octave E flat fundamental with a sustain that lingers on and on. It sings the same lovely low E flat when played around the rim with a suede ringer, but a wooden one will bring out a mid octave B flat harmonic. The sound quality of this bowl is truly exceptional, but it is also capable of producing some of the best fountains we have seen.
This is a very large old bowl with an 11-inch diameter, and quite heavy too at just under 4 pounds. It has the typical Jambati form…gracefully curved walls, a wide triangulated inward-facing lip, incised banding below the rim and concentric circles on the inside floor.
This bowl is in an excellent state of preservation for its age. It has a nice antique gold colour and attractive hammer markings, both inside and out, that provide lots of surface interest as they reflect the light.
