Antique Jambati Singing Bowl – Low Profile, Superb Concert Pitch
SOLD
Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. G & E Notes (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 3 lb 2 oz (1.44 kilos). 25 x 11 cm (approx. 10 x 4 ¼ inches)
This is a lovely old Jambati singing bowl with a low profile and a superb concert pitch fundamental tone, a low third octave G sharp with a long pulsating sustain, when struck with a padded mallet. The note is the same when played around the rim with a suede ringer, but it changes to a fifth octave F if a wooden ringer is used.
This bowl is in excellent condition for its age, and virtually free of stains and blemishes. It has all the typical Jambati features; the wide inward-facing lip, a pair of circles on the inside floor, and a series of incised lines forming a collar to the outer rim. These are particularly attractive and well defined. The walls also have attractive hammer markings inside and out. Altogether, a very nice bowl with a wonderful voice.
