Antique Mani Singing Bowl. Note B4 – Crown Chakra
Weight 1.49 kilos (3 lb 4 ½ oz). Size 18.5 x 10 cm (7 ¼ x 4 inches)
This is a typical example of this ancient bowl form with its smooth bulbous wall, wide lip, banding below the rim and around the belly, and circles at its centre.
This large and heavy Mani Singing Bowl is responsive and easy to play. It has an excellent middle B voice (505Hz) when struck and a powerful beat when played around the rim.
It is structurally sound, basically clean and stain-free but with some surface copper oxidization inside.
Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
