Antique Naga D Bowl – Unique Illustrated Inscription with Comet

This superb medium size antique pedestal or Naga singing bowl is an absolute delight to play.  It is extremely responsive and sings a beautiful and rare mid octave D note.  It’s the same note whether struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer, but if a wooden one is used the rim note becomes a great fifth octave G.

This is a well-made Naga bowl in good condition, with a strong pedestal, fine even walls and a nice lip.  The outer wall is finely decorated with bands of engraved lines forming a collar just below the rim.

However, what makes this bowl really special is its unusual and wonderfully crisp illustrated inscription.  The inscription is sandwiched between what appears to be finely drawn elephant’s head cloth, and a wonderful depiction of a comet or shooting star.

It would be hard to find a more interesting or better sounding Naga bowl!
