Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Notes A3 (220Hz) & Eb5 (623Hz) Third Eye & Solar Plexus
Weight 896 grams (1 lb 15 ½ oz). Size 17.5 x 9.5 cm (6 ¾ x 3 ¾ inches)
This beautiful antique Thadobati Bowl has just about everything one could wish…a rare perfect pitch third octave A fundamental (220Hz) with an exceptionally long sustain when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. And the rim note changes to a near perfect pitch fifth octave Eb (623Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. In addition to its excellent singing voices this bowl has considerable talking ability when struck or played with a little water inside. It will even produce vibrant surface water patterns and small fountains!
It is a beautifully forged high-sided bowl with a gracefully curved wall and a grooved lip. It has a decorative border of dots and incised lines forming a collar around the outer rim, and there are three lines encircling its belly. The centre of the bowl is slightly raised into a mound surrounded and defined by concentric circles.
This lovely old bowl is clean and structurally sound. It has an attractive golden bronze colour with some light copper oxidization inside.
A fabulous example of a Thadobati singing and talking bowl!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a striker and a ringer are all included in the price.
