Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Bb3 & E5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1 lb 14¾ oz. (874g). Size 17 x 8.5 cm (approx. 6¾ x 3¼ inches)
This extraordinary antique Thadobati Singing Bowl has two perfect pitch voices. The struck fundamental is a third octave Bb with a frequency of 233Hz, while the rim note is a fifth octave E with a frequency of 659Hz.
Any bowl with perfect concert pitch is unusual, but to find one with two concert pitch notes is virtually unheard of. This bowl also has some talking ability if struck or played then rocked back and forth with a little water inside. A double–ended suede and wood ringer is included in the price.
This bowl has high walls of an even thickness, and a flat bottom. There are two sets of concentric circles in the centre of the bowl, and some incised lines around the outer wall. A particularly nice feature is the decorative ribbon of sun motifs (punched dots within circles) that encircle the bowl just below the rim. This bowl has obviously been well used in its lifetime, but it is structurally sound and has a nice golden bronze colour.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes with suede then wood ringer)
