Antique Tibetan Singing and Talking Bowl. C4 & G5 (Root & Throat Chakras)
Weight 1 lb 9 oz. (708g). 17 x 8 cm (approx. 6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This medium size Tibetan Singing Bowl has a very nice voice…a virtually concert pitch middle octave C whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note is a powerful fifth octave G with a long sustain if a hard wooden ringer is used.
However, what really distinguishes this bowl is its excellent talking voice when struck or played with a little water inside. Indeed, it is so eager to communicate that one can sometimes hear a subtle vocal accompaniment when it’s played in the normal way around the rim WITHOUT any water!
This bowl is very well proportioned and feels comfortable to hold being neither too large nor too heavy. It has a grooved lip and incised decorative bands below the rim and around the midpoint of its belly, and there are concentric circles at its centre. It is structurally sound and in good clean condition for its age. A teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
A rather special and very desirable antique bowl!
