Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing and Fountain Bowl. D & C Notes (Sacral & Root Chakras)
Weight 2 lb 1 ½ oz (950g). 18 x 9 cm (approx. 7 x 3 ½ inches)
A good quality medium size Tibetan Singing and Fountain Bowl with a graceful form, thick high-sided walls and a large clear inscription around its middle. The fundamental note is a mid octave D when struck with a padded mallet, and a middle C sharp when played around the rim. Several other harmonics are also audible. With a little water inside, this bowl will fountain.
This is a well-forged bowl with a really nice grooved lip and lots of decorative detail including a tiny double-dot band and inscribed lines just below the rim, triple lines around the external belly of the bowl, and two groups of concentric circles on the inside floor. A particularly nice feature is the bold inscription with large clear characters on the outer wall, just above the mid-point. This bowl was clearly important to its original owner(s) and this is reflected in its good condition and clean appearance. A lovely antique bowl!
