Antique Tibetan Lingam Singing Bowl – Bright Sound

This is a sturdy little Lingam bowl in excellent condition.  It is quite heavy for its size with strong thick walls and a wide and slightly triangulated lip.  It has a pronounced Lingam at its centre surrounded by three groups of decorative concentric circles, matched by a nicely formed navel on the underside.

 

It has a particularly bright and sonorous singing voice…a fundamental fifth octave F when struck with a mallet or played around the rim with a ringer.

 

This lovely little bowl has a very pleasant feel to it.  It is nicely proportioned, extremely well made and well preserved despite its considerable age.
