Antique Tibetan Lingam Singing Bowl – Fundamental A Note

Antique Tibetan Lingam Singing Bowl.  A note (Third Eye Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 11 ¾ oz (788g).   20 x 7.5 cm (approx. 8 x 3 inches)

 

This is a large medium-weight antique Lingam bowl with a very nice (and quite rare) low third octave fundamental A note.  The struck and played notes are the same but it’s possible to bring out a fifth octave E with a wooden ringer.

 

This is an attractive bowl in very nice condition.  It has a huge central lingam surrounded by a pair of decorative circles, with another pair some distance away.  The lip has a fine micro groove and is flat and level, there is a decorative band below the rim on the outer wall, and it has a nice central navel underneath.  The outer surface features some very attractive hammer marks with some patina of age, while the overall colour is a matt dark bronze.
