Astonishing Engraved Tibetan Antique Jhakri/Shaman Phurba with OM

Unique Antique Shaman Phurba (Ritual Dagger)

This truly wonderful antique Tibetan shaman’s phurba is the best of its kind I have encountered in well over 30 years, and comes from my own private collection.  Incredibly, virtually every surface is covered in finely engraved writing.  The script is probably Tibetan but sadly, with the exception of the OM symbol on the top, its meaning is unknown to me.  However, it is most likely mantras and sacred text.  I had always intended to get it translated.   

This astonishing antique phurba features the four faces of a deity, each fairly identical, with elongated ears and earrings, and sharing a rounded crown of skulls.  The unusual square-cut form is clearly designed to provide flat surfaces to facilitate the carving of words and sentences.   The hilt is a stylized dorje leading to a four-sided blade. 

With the exception of the carved faces, and one side of the blade, every other surface is covered in sacred text.  It would have taken great skill and an age to carve.

This utterly unique and powerful ritual tool is in excellent museum quality condition, with an aged patina, and the look and feel of great antiquity and purpose.
