Attractive Large 10 ¾ “ Multi-Harmonic Jambati Singing Bowl – Massive Sustain

SOLD

Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: Bb2 & F4 & C#6 (Crown, Heart & Root Chakras)

Weight 2.09 kilos (4 lb 10 oz).  Size 27 x 12 cm (10 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches)

This large Jambati Singing Bowl with its plain graciously curved wall and sheered lip is believed to date from the early to mid 20th century.  It’s an attractive bowl with polished walls and particularly nice ‘bruised’ hammer markings externally.   It also features  multiple randomly-placed magical or ritual gashes encircling the outer wall about an inch below the rim.  Their meaning or purpose is unknown, but they are clearly deliberate.

The fundamental note is an excellent low second octave Bb2 (116Hz) that is often accompanied by a middle octave F4 harmonic (349Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note is an unusually high sixth octave C#6 (1120Hz) with a wooden ringer.  This bowl has a massive sustain.

It is in excellent structural condition, clean and free of stains, with a nice golden bronze colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are all included in the price.
