Characterful Rare 17th-18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch E3

SOLD

Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: E3 & Bb4 (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)

Weight: 1.01 kilos (2 lb 3 ½oz).  Size: 19 x 9.5 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)

This rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl is thought to date from the 18th Century, but could be considerably older to judge by its thin wall, lack of any external decorative features worn down through use, and incredibly beautiful aged patina.

It has a curved wall, a sheered lip, and a small flat bottom.  The Lingam at its centre is surrounded by one set of circles, the others having been worn away with the passage of time, along with all external artwork.  There is a nice naval or yoni underneath.

It has a fabulous perfect pitch third octave E3 fundamental (165Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a close perfect pitch middle octave Bb4 (464Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This ancient Lingam bowl looks its age and will be supplied ‘as found’.  It is structurally sound and has the most glorious colour and patina that has been built up with handling and playing over its lifetime.

An exceptional and wonderful example of this very rare bowl form…a very collectable treasure!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
