Antique Mani Singing Bowl. F#5 (717Hz) Heart Chakra
Weight 4 lb 13 ¾ oz (2.21 kilos). 19 x 11 cm (approx. 7 ½ x 4 ¼ inches)
This is an exceptionally large and heavy Antique Mani Singing bowl with a fifth octave F# (717Hz) fundamental. As with most Mani bowls, the note is the same whether struck or played around the rim.
It has all the typical characteristics of this ancient bowl form…flat bottom, bulbous tapering walls, wide inward-facing grooved lip, circles at its centre, and decorative banding below the outer rim and around its belly.
Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare. I believe this excellent example to be older than most. It is structurally sound and relatively clean for a bowl of this type and age.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
