Exceptionally Large Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch D3 & Inscription

SOLD

Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Notes D3 & G4 (Sacral & Throat Chakras)

Weight 1.6 kilos (3 lb 8 ½ oz). Size 22 x 12 cm (8 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches)

This is an exceptionally large antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with a great D3 (147Hz) concert pitch fundamental and a close concert pitch G#3 harmonic (411Hz).

It is a 19th century bowl with a typical Thadobati high-sided wall, sheered lip and flat bottom.  There are circles at its centre, and 2 decorative bands of tiny cuts encircling the outer rim.   It also benefits from an inscription on the outer wall, a sure indication of the importance and high esteem in which this bowl was held by a former keeper.    Inscribed Thadobati bowls are extremely rare.

This bowl is supplied in it ‘as found’ condition with the grime and patina acquired over the years but would clean up quite well with a little effort.  Personally, I like a bowl to reflect its history and look its age.  It is in excellent structural condition with occasional light patches of copper oxidization.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
