Exceptionally Rare Antique Lingam Singing & Talking Bowl

SOLD

Antique Lingam Singing & Talking Bowl. Notes: B3/C4 & F#5 (Crown/Root & Heart Chakras)

Weight: 920 grams (2 lb 0 ½ oz).  Size: 27 x 9.5 cm (6 ¾  x 3 ¼ inches)

This is a an exceptionally rare example of an antique Lingam Singing and Talking bowl.   It has a beautiful flickering third and forth octave B3/C4 (252Hz – 254Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave F#5 (724Hz) with a wooden ringer.

Furthermore it has an excellent talking voice when struck or played and rocked back and forth with a little water inside.  Talking bowls are extremely rare, especially among lingams, and are highly prized by shamans for their ability to connect and communicate with the spirit world.

This attractive early 19th century bowl has a slightly globular wall, with a sheered lip, and a flat bottom.  Two bands of tiny dots decorate the outer rim.  There is a nice Lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a matching yoni or navel underneath.

It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with light copper oxidization inside and an attractive aged patina.  It has the look and feel of purpose and antiquity.

A rare and very special antique bowl indeed!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and ringer are included in the price.
