Exquisite & Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch F3

This rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl has a particularly lovely and sought-after shape with its graceful low profile and rounded bottom.  Its hand-forged hammered walls have been worn silky smooth with long use and ritual cleaning, and it is believed to date from around 1800.

It has a sheered lip with decorative incised bands encircling the outer rim and forming a collar.  The fabulous rounded Lingam at its centre is defined and surrounded by two sets of circles, with a matching naval or yoni underneath.

The fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave F3 (173-175Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave C5 (516Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This ancient Lingam Singing Bowl has the look and feel of great antiquity.  It is in excellent structural condition and has an aged patina and interesting and attractive mottled surface that probably relates to hammer marks during the forging process.
