Exquisite Tiny B4 Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with abundant Artwork!
SOLD
Manipuri Singing Bowl. Notes: B4 & Bb4 (Crown Chakra)
Weight 198 grams (0 lb 7 oz). Size 11.5 x 4 cm (4 ½ x 1 ½ inches)
This tiny 19th century Manipuri Singing Bowl is the smallest in my collection and quite possibly the prettiest with its abundant artwork.
It has a shallow form with a slightly splayed rim, a wide lip, and a rounded bottom. There are 2 pairs of circles at its center, each featuring a decorative chain of suns (dots within circles). More suns encircle its lip, and there are fine parallel lines around the inner rim.
The outer wall features a band of decorative suns and a series of magical or ritual gashes, both set within parallel lines, below which are decorative vertical lines.
The fundamental note is a sweet middle octave B4 (482Hz) when struck with a wooden ringer and Bb4478Hz when played around the rim. This lovely bowl is very responsive and easy to play.
It is in excellent structural condition, clean, with a bright shiny golden colour.
Miniature singing bowls of all types are very collectable and highly sought-after. This one is exceptional in all respects!
Audio clips are not available but a small ringer will be supplied free of charge.
