Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  G#4 Note (409Hz) Throat Chakra

Weight 1.52 Kilos (3 lb 5 ¾ oz).   Size 19.5 x 9.5 cm (approx. 7 ¾ x 3 ¾ inches)

This is a magnificent and heavy golden Lingam bowl dating from the 19th century.  The walls are particularly thick and the level of decoration unusual for this type of bowl.  It has a deeply grooved lip and an exceptionally nice decorative border below the outer rim.

There are also some incised lines encircling the midpoint and circles surrounding the excellent navel on the bottom.  There is a nice pointed lingam inside surrounded and defined by concentric circles.

This bowl also features an engraved inscription; something rarely seen on a Lingam bowl, and it’s in an unusual place too…on the lower half of the outer wall. Inscriptions are a fair indication that a former keeper held the bowl in high esteem.  Inscriptions always add interest and value.

The fundamental note is a good forth octave G# (409Hz) whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim.

This premium quality golden bronze bowl is structurally sound, clean on the outside but with some patchy copper and silver oxidization inside.   A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
