This fabulous and interesting premium quality antique bowl is one of a kind and in superb condition. Large, heavy, and complex in form, it would have been very difficult to forge. Its unusual form give rise to a powerful and unique voice that flickers between C#3 (137Hz) and D3 (148Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a middle G (393Hz) if a wooden ringer is employed. However, it’s the rather haunting struck note that is really special!
This bowl has a complex structure that is difficult to describe so I will let the pictures speak for themselves, and just mention the decorative circles at its centre and the small inscription on the outer wall which signifies the importance of this bowl to a former keeper.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
