Extraordinary Large Hand-Forged & Inscribed Ceremonial Mandala Bowl – Simply Unique!

Ceremonial Lotus Mandala Bowl.   Note C#4 (283Hz) Root Chakra

Weight 1.57 kilo (3 lb 7 ¼ oz).  Size 24.5 x 6.5 cm (9 ½ x 2 ½ inches)

This is an extraordinary and highly decorated one-of-a-kind ceremonial bowl featuring a geometric flower of life lotus mandala at its centre, surrounded by two sets of concentric circles and a dot-punched inscription…the latter being a fair indication of the high esteem in which this bowl was held by a former keeper.

This rare bowl is very heavy for its size.  Its thick walls would have been extremely difficult to forge evenly, and this is apparent from its slightly irregular appearance.  Considerable effort has gone into the decoration that covers most of surface.  In addition to the central mandala its lip is entirely decorated with overlapping circles, while two bands of suns encircle the outer rim. Beneath the suns are two bands of incised point-to-point triangles.  Only the underneath is plain and undecorated.

This is almost certainly a shamanic ceremonial or offering bowl, and although it will produce a C#4 (283Hz) note when struck and a G#5 (845Hz) when played, the sound is not great and I don’t believe it was made to be a singing bowl, despite sharing some common elements.

This bowl is in very good condition as befits a sacred object, clean and structurally sound with an attractive bright golden colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a padded striker are included in the price.
