Antique Bronze Skull Shaman Phurba (Ritual Dagger)
Length: 23.5 cm (9 ¼ inches)
This is a very rare and collectable antique bronze skull Jhakri or shaman’s phurba (ritual dagger) from Biran in East Nepal. It features a grinning crowned skull above a stylized dorge or vadjra leading to a three-sided blade.
It was cast in bronze as a single piece and finished by hand. There is an insignificant tiny tear at the top of one of the blades (just visible top left) but it is otherwise in perfect condition, with an attractive aged patina.
This is a genuinely authentic 19th century (possibly earlier) shaman’s phurba, not a modern reproduction, and therefore highly collectable.
A rare example of a shaman phurba used for transformation, healing and protection.
