Weight 1.07 kilos (2 lb 5 ¾ oz). Size 18.5 x 9.5 cm (7 ¼ x 3 ¾ inches)
This lovely antique Naga or Pedestal Singing Bowl with its graceful shallow form is simply unique and quite possibly the oldest Naga I have come across in over 30 years of collecting.
The fundamental struck note is a perfect pitch third octave F#3 (184/5Hz) while the played rim note is a perfect pitch middle B4 (493Hz). It is extemely uncommon to find different struck and suede played rim notes on a Naga bowl, let alone perfect pitch!
It has been superbly crafted and is in museum quality condition save for a barely noticeable tiny nibble along the bottom edge of the supporting ring. It has a wonderfully rich dark bronze colour, and the look and feel of great antiquity.
A small padded striker and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
