Fabulous Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – 2 Perfect PItch Notes!

This 19th century lingam singing bowl has bags of character and is in great condition for its age.  Its mottled outer wall and spattering of copper oxidization inside make it really look its age.  It is beautifully proportioned with thick and even walls, a sheered lip and rounded bottom.  There is an excellent lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a deep matching navel or yoni underneath. Two bands of dots decorate the outer rim.

This fabulous old bowl has two beautiful voices.  Antique singing bowls are seldom perfect pitch, so the fact that this bowl has two perfect pitch notes is quite extraordinary and makes it really special. 

The fundamental note is a third octave G#3 (203-207Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and perfect pitch G#3 (207Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a perfect pitch fifth octave (587HZ) when played with a wooden ringer.  It is very responsive and easy to play.
