Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: B3 (Crown Chakra)
Weight 823 grams (1 lb 13 oz). Size 19 x 10.5 cm (7 ½ x 4 inches)
This rare and exceptionally lovely antique Lingam Singing Bowl has been superbly crafted and has great aesthetic appeal. It has a high gracefully curved and finely hammered wall, a grooved lip, a large central lingam surrounded by circles, and a deep navel or yoni underneath. There are decorative bands at intervals around the outer wall which has been skillfully crafted to contrast the smooth golden top third with the darker hammered surface below.
The excellent fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave B3 (249Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.
This lovely bowl (circa 1850) is in superb structural condition and benefits from a fine dot-punched inscription; a fair indication of the high esteem in which it was held by a former keeper.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
