Antique Shaman Singing Bowl. F3 (176Hz) Heart Chakra
Weight 1.19 kilos (2 lb 10 oz). Size 21.5 x 6.5 cm (8 ½ x 2 ½ inches)
This is a rare and superbly crafted shallow singing bowl of the type sometimes used by shaman. This example has a particularly rare and beautiful form and benefits from an engraved inscription on the outer wall, a sure sign that it was highly regarded by a former keeper.
The fundamental note is a concert pitch third octave F (175/6Hz) when struck with a padded mallet. The rim nore is a nice middle Bb harmonic (473-7Hz) when played with a suede or wooden ringer.
This is a heavy bowl for its size. It has a fine rim, even walls, and a wide flat well defined bottom. There are decorative band either side of the rim and around the middle of the outer wall.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a ringer are all included in the price.
