Weight 2.54 kilos (5lb 9 ½ oz).   Size 29.5 x 13 cm (approx. 11 ½ x 5 inches)

This is a fabulous full-bodied antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a beautiful pulsating third octave Eb (157Hz) that is quite close to concert pitch when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle B (491Hz) if a wooden ringer is used.

This is a large bowl with a diameter of 11 ½ inches and weighing over 2 ½ kilos.  It have been expertly forged and has attractive hammer marking to its wall, a triangulated grooved and slightly downward sloping lip, circles at its centre, and boldly incised bands forming a decorative collar below the outer rim.

This handsome old bowl is free of stains and in good structural condition despite showing some typical signs of its age and wear.   It has a nice antique golden bronze colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a ringer are all included in the price.

PS. This antique bowl is part of my original collection, and having visited Nepal 7 times in the last 18 months I cannot stress enough how hard it has become to source genuine antiques of this size and quality, with bowls over 11 inches (28cm) now almost impossible to find.
