Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: A4/Bb4 (Third Eye & Crown Chakras)
Weight 1.21 kilos (2 lb 10 ¾ oz).   Size 22 x 8 cm (8 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)

This is a rare and superior quality antique lingam singing bowl dating from the 18th Century.   It has been expertly forged with even walls and has an uncommon and gracefully curved low profile combined with a fabulous wide folded and triangulated lip boldly decorated with multiple grooves.   There are faint decorative lines encircling the outer rim and lower down the wall.  At its centre there is a perfect nipple-like lingam surrounded and defined by circles, and a neat matching navel or yoni underneath.

It’s a responsive bowl with a particularly beautiful voice.  The fundamental note sits at the midpoint between the middle (forth) octave A4 and Bb4 (452/3Hz) and the audio meter flickers between the two when the bowl is struck or played around the rim.

This rare Lingam Singing Bowl is in superb structural condition.  Its hammered walls have been worn sensually smooth after years of service and are stain-free.  It has an attractive rich golden bronze colour everywhere except underneath where there is some aged copper oxidization.

A fabulous large example of this rare and desirable ceremonial bowl form!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
