Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Bb4 (463Hz) Crown Chakra
Weight 294 grams (0 lb 10¼ oz) Size 4¾ x 2¼ inches (12 x 6 cm)
This is a superior quality small 19th century antique Lingam singing bowl with a middle octave Bb voice (463Hz) that is close to concert pitch. The note is the same whether struck or played with a suede ringer, but the rim note changes to a high sixth octave E (1300Hz) if a wooden one is used.
This bowl has been beautifully forged. It is a good weight for its small size and the high-sided walls are of an even thickness. It has a level and faintly grooved lip, and the outer rim is decorated with of band of tiny gashes of a type found on older Thadobati bowls.
There is a fabulous lingam at its centre, surrounded and defined by a series of incised circles. There is a small and neat navel underneath.
This bowl is in excellent structural condition, and is clean and free of blemishes. Its hammered outer surface is particularly attractive, and it has a lovely deep golden bronze colour.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
