Fine Quality Thadobati Singing Bowl – E Note, Unique Decoration
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing Bowl. Eb4 Note (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 0 ¼ oz (913g). 16.5 x 8 cm (approx. 6 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a fine quality large antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with an excellent voice…a beautiful mid octave Eb whether struck or played around the rim with a ringer.
This perfectly balanced 19th century bowl has the thick high-sided walls and flat bottom that characterizes the Thadobati bowl form.
It has a grooved lip and two sets of boldly incised concentric circles radiating from the centre of the basin, and a double row of small dots encircling the outer rim. There are also several decorative bands around its belly, and a very pretty and highly unusual scalloped bunting-like fringe below the rim.
It is just the right size and weight for holding and playing. It has a nice golden bronze colour and is in an excellent state of preservation…clean and virtually free of blemishes. This is a lovely old bowl that would be a delight to own and play!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
