Glorious 11 ½ “ Engraved Antique Jambati Singing Bowl from Bangladesh – Floral Motif

This fabulous 11 ½-inch Antique Jambati Singing Bowl comes from Bangladesh and is a true work of art.  Virtually the entire outer surface has been exquisitely hand-carved with a beautiful geometric floral motif based on a traditional carpet design.  I believe the carving of this bowl dates from the 19th century and it probably took the highly skilled artisan several months to complete the work.

The fundamental struck note is a fabulous low second octave G2 (96/7Hz) that is close to perfect pitch when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  This bowl is also capable of producing the vibrant low OM sound with a heavy suede ringer.

This large antique Jambati Singing Bowl has been superbly forged and is structurally sound and in excellent condition.  There are decorative circles at its centre.

Carved Bangladeshi bowls are extremely rare and difficult to source, and always command a high price when available.  I managed to secure a few superb examples that will sell within days, so be quick if you are tempted.
