Weight 1 lb 2 ¼ oz. (571 grams). Size 17.5 x 8 cm (7 x 3 inches)
This graceful low-profile antique singing bowl has a third octave F fundamental (178Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, that moves to a F# (183Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a penetrating fifth octave Bb (948Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This old bowl has been well used during its life, and long-term cleaning accounts for its smooth fine walls. A single decorative band surrounds the outer rim, but the circles at its centre have virtually disappeared. Nonetheless it has a sweet voice and remains structurally sound.
A Tibetan silk brocade cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
