Weight 1.64 kilos (3 lb 9 ¼ oz). Size 24.5 x 10.5 cm (9 ¾ x 4 inches)
This medium sized antique Jambati Singing Bowl is rather heavy for its size, with extra thick walls, a flat bottom, sheered lip, and decorative bands encircling the rim. This is an older bowl in excellent structural condition but with a few minor blemishes and some light staining inside, none of which detracts from its good looks and musicality.
The fundamental note is a third octave D (143-88Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave G# (831Hz) and an A4 (430Hz) if a wooden ringer is employed.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are included in the price.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede then wood ringer)
