Heavy Thick-Walled Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl – D4
SOLD
Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Note D4 (Sacral Chakra)
Weight 1.44 kilos (3 lb 2 oz). Size 19.5 x 9 cm (7 ¾ x 3 ½ inches)
This is a heavy thick-walled antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with a middle D4 (298Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a wooden ringer.
It has the straight-sided wall, flat bottom, and grooved lip typically seen in heavy and older Thadobati Singing Bowls, but with unusual decorative bands of pigment applied to the lower half of the outer wall. There are also circles at the centre.
This interesting antique Thadobati bowl is in good structural condition but supplied uncleaned ‘as found’, and with some light oxidization resulting in a slightly course playing edge that would benefit from a fine sanding for a smoother and sweeter sound.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
