Huge Antique A2 Jambati Singing Bowl – A Personal Favourite!
SOLD
Antique Jambati Singing and Fountain Bowl. A Note (Third Eye Chakra)
Weight 4 lb 15 ½ oz (2.25 kilos). 28 x 13 cm (approx. 11 x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a fabulous and huge antique Jambati singing bowl with an exceptionally fine and uncommon fundamental, a very low second octave A note that is close to concert pitch. It sings the same superb A2 whether struck with a padded striker or played around the rim with a suede ringer. Both struck and played notes are close to concert pitch, but the rim note also has a desirable OM harmonic quality to it. With a little water inside, this bowl also has some fountain ability.
With a diameter of 11 inches and weighing almost 5 pounds this is a very big bowl, but its finely beaten walls make it relatively light for its large size.
This is a top-quality bowl in excellent condition for its age; clean and virtually blemish free. It has very attractive hammer markings inside and out, an excellent triangulated lip, nicely incised decorative bands forming a collar below the outer rim, and circles at its centre.
Old Jambati singing bowls do not come much better than this, and this is one of our all-time favourites!
