This is a HUGE and spectacular old Ultabati singing bowl with a wonderful and VERY LOW fundamental 2nd and 3rd octave G when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a heavy suede ringer. With a hard wooden ringer the rim note changes to a lovely F sharp. This is a particularly wonderful bowl to listen to close up…with one’s ear inside the basin! With a little water inside, this bowl will also produce amazing fountains.

The excellent and clean condition of this hugely handsome bowl is indicative of one that has been put to ceremonial, ritual or musical use. It has the classic Ultabati form with its out-turned lip, and is extremely well made. Its fine even walls make it surprisingly light to hold considering its size. It’s a real eye-catcher too, with tremendous dark mottled leopard-spot hammer marks on the outside, and a beautiful bright golden interior.
