Interesting & Unusual Decorated Antique Remuna Singing Bowl – Lovely Eb4

This superior quality Remuna bowl has an abundance of decorative artwork and a fine Eb4 voice. 

A great deal of effort has gone into making it aesthetically appealing.  It has a gracefully curved wall with contrasting polished and textured surfaces above and below the midpoint, a flat bottom and a deeply grooved triangulated lip.  The outer wall has a bold geometric pattern around the rim, with a floral pattern of tiny cuts beneath it. 

There are multiple boldly incised circles at its centre, and another high up around the inner wall.  There are numerous decorative incised bands it intervals around the outer wall and, usually, even underneath.

It’s a very responsive bowl and easy to play.  The fundamental note is a nice middle octave Eb4 (306Hz) when struck with a padded mallet and (308Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer.

This interesting Remuna is believed to date from around 1900. It is in excellent structural condition, has a golden bronze colour, and is virtually free of stains.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
